Maryland Center for Adult Training, Inc. (MCAT) formally the Maryland Center for Arts and Technology, Inc. located in Baltimore City emerged out of a two year study, initiated by the locally based Hoffberger Foundation. The goal was to address the skill gap between employer needs and employee capability. As a result, MCAT was established and incorporated on July 2, 1998 and obtained its 501(c3) status in January 1999.
To date, MCAT has been serving the Baltimore community for approximately 19 years. It has trained students in billing and coding, customer service, and computer technology. For the last eight years to coincide with today’s competitive job-market, MCAT has focused its’ training on Healthcare and Adult Basic Education (ABE). We are certified with the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) and the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON). MCAT has successfully trained over 600 Certified Nursing/Geriatric Nursing Assistants (CNA/GNAs), Patient Care Technicians (PCT) and Certified Medication Technicians (CMT). We also have assisted our graduates with finding and securing employment. This is what sets us apart from other training agencies throughout the Baltimore region.
